Introduction .

This project utilizes JavaScript and browser cookies to control the loading of an ad tag or determine the Flash display

state of an expandable Billboard ad unit. Two versions exist in this build guide, depending on preference of either a

publisher hosted show ad button or an advertiser created Flash button. Full sample files can be accessed through the

links near the end of this document, along with all coding required to achieve the desired result. Sample files and coding

shown in this project utilize DoubleClick Rich Media and Studio technology. Flash, JavaScript and all HTML and CSS

assets will give you a good idea how to set up your execution using DoubleClick technology.

Build.

Delivery.

Two sets of steps featuring different sample implementation methods are outlined below, depending on publisher

requirements. Using similar logic and technology, both solutions utilize communication between a the Flash unit and

site hosted JavaScript. Script will set or receive browser cookie values, which will be returned to Flash and/or JavaScript

to determine the appropriate display state and/or HTML display settings via CSS attributes. Publisher will be responsible

for implementing JavaScript functions, HTML div tags and appropriate CSS.

NOTE: When an acceptable publisher side solution has been chosen and code has been implemented, any deviation

from function names called through ExternalInterface must be communicated to the DoubleClick Rich Media team. All

CSS listed in the example code is for demonstration purposes only and must be customized to work with publiser site.

Steps.

Flash close button solution will trigger an ad request and impression increment on every visit to the page. Visibility

defaults to the full Billboard execution on first visit of the day, while setting a cookie with the current state, expiring
